2017 Giving Back to the Community Recipients
The goal of Camp Bridges is to support children and teens with their grief and bereavement. This is achieved through activities designed to help share grief and honor memories in a caring community environment. The camp is organized and run by staff of the Palliative Care Program of Southern Health-Sante Sud and Prairie Mountain Health. Formal funding for bereavement care and services, especially for children and teens, is virtually non-existant.
Woodridge Fire Departement (WFD)
The RM of Piney will be supplying an ATV to the Woodridge Fire Department. This ATV will be used to for emergency responses that include grass fires. The WFD needs to find the funds to equip the ATV with a trailer and equipment to respond to fires. The equipment consists of tank, pump and the support equipment to that water can be transported closer to grass fires.
Fonds Hôpital Ste-Anne Hospital Fund (SAHF)
SAHF aims to provide high quality health care to the residents of our region and is actively fundraising for state of the art equipment for the new operating ward.
In 2011, the Sprague And Area Arena Committee started and took on the challenge of cleaning up the arena and having ice for the first time in many years that winter. This past Spring, we were approved for a $90,000, that we must match with $45,000, to help us replace the support beams, fix a leaky roof, upgrade the lighting and install indoor plumbing.
Steinbach Family Resource Centre (SFRC)
We offer families with a wide range of our services through educational/support programs. We predominantly serve families in the prenatal stage to pre-kindergarden stage to find support, resources and connection to our community. We are currently looking for funds to help us purchase two small vehicles that will be used by the children in a new Road Safety Play Park that we are currently building. The purpose of the project is to create road awareness among young children.
ROC’s purpose it to reduce the barriers to recreation for children living in low income situation in Eastman. Since 2009, we have helped 130 children discover their passions and feel no longer left out. Activities we connect them to can be almost anything - dace, sports, cooking, art classes, photography, creative writing, summer camp, drame…. the list goes on. For $350 per child per year, ROC kids are learning amazing things about themselves and those around them.
