Food Competition – Pea Soup

Once again Saint Labre 200 will be holding a food competition. This year, it is with great pleasure that we announce a Pea Soup-off.

As defined, pea soup is a soup made from dried split peas (yellow or green).

You get to make your version of a Manitoban classic. Bring your tastiest pea soup for all to try!

It is asked that every team have 2 liters of soup ready by 12:00 pm (noon) on Saturday July 8th.  A half (0.5 cup) or 250ml will be used for the judges’ vote and the rest will be utilized for the public vote to be held at 12:30 pm on Saturday July 8th.  The judge’s vote counts for 60% and the public vote counts for 40% of the total vote.

Judges will be asked to vote on presentation (20%), flavour (40%) and overall appreciation (40%). The public will vote for their top 3 favorite soups.

Winners of the competition will be announced late afternoon on July 8th.  Past winners have been crowned cook-off King and or Queen and have retained bragging right for their respective competitions.

All levels of experience are accepted.
